The perennial "need new music" post. What's everyone listening to, these days?

I've been digging Honeyhoney's "Little Toy Gun" from the album First Rodeo. Also, some of the stuff from Mankind is Obsolete, from Trapped Inside. I won an Encoder CD (Slivers of Time) and have been fond of it.

A lot of my listening has been on Pandora, with a world music mix including "The Whyle" by Qntal, "Wagoner's Lad" by Sara Hickman, and a variety of songs by Saving Jane.

I've been listening to a lot of Jill Sobule from the nineties -- she has an adorable voice and clever lyrics.

Another favorite is singer/songwriter Mirah (and closely linked, Laura Veirs, they toured together last year).

For the indie-hipster sound, I like Wolf Parade (their album, Apologies to the Queen Mary, is all-around excellent).

I'll double check my Pandora stations as well, that website is always finding me new delicious wonderful tunes...

I was exposed to Funkadesi and Pistolera at Lotus Fest--both very fun, upbeat, and danceable world fusion bands.

I'm also digging Imogen Heap and Yael Naim right now.

Right this very moment, I'm listening to John Zorn.

But he's an old flame, actually. New Music? Sigh, I've had a Metal Void in my heart since Worms ended so there's been Nightwish, Symphony X, Slipknot.

The most recent Infected Mushroom (Vicious Delicious) was amazing and there is still Portishead's Third.

Also, check this:

I seem to recall someone saying they would send us a copy of the new Portishead, yet scanning the horizon, I see no Portishead there. Hmmmm.

I'm listening to Cold War Kids (good stuff) Girl Talk's Feed the Animals (kooky album! good stuff!) the new Enya album (it's xmas themed, ok?), The Killers's Day and Age (fun), Calexico's Carried to Dust (good).
