State of the Union...what can I say? Other than the state of the union is this: baby, we're going DOWN!
My biggest issue is about social security. I'm done with Iraq. There's nothing left to say. But social security? Yeah. okay...
Social security was NEVER meant to be the principle income of ANYONE! FDR is rolling over in his grave screaming "Damn you George Bush! We worked so hard on that program and you have the nerve to let it go to hell??" Social security needs to be there. It's a great program because it keeps Americans self-sufficient and gives them a steady sort of income so they can retire and reap the rewards of a long life's work. However, it is 70 years old and times are a-changin' so it naturally needs some revamping to change with the American lifestyle. Bush's plan is to privatize social security giving people control of their money and putting restrictions on the use of that money so you can't spend it all in one place. Fine. Except for (and I apologize for this) Americans are stupid. Actually, people are stupid in general. Smart people have already privatized their own social security by investing money the government hasn't taken away in IRAs or 401K funds. Those are the same people who realize that social security isn't going to be enough for them to live on in their later years. Because--say it with me--Social Security was never meant to be the principle income to anyone. Smart people know that. The problem with putting everyone on that level that the second you do that is the second people stop investing their own money into retirement funds because they think they're putting in more of their own money and earning more but they're not. Meanwhile, they spend the money they should be saving for retirment and the country depletes the remaining funds (probably diverting it to cover the 3 trillion dollar national debt)*sigh*
Anyway...
Had a great break! I never want to come back after visiting John :( and I never want him to leave when he comes to visit me. :( But he fixed my computer so it doesn't suck anymore. We started learning Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. So I've been practicing. I am making a webpage and, uh, it pretty much rocks if I do say so myself.
