Cool. I love Paris. I could live there. We played in that La Loco place a few weeks ago on tour. Though Monmartre is tame on the sex shop from compared to the Reeperbahn in Hamburg...that is just wall to wall sex shops, brothels, strip joints and kebab shops. It's the most sinful place I've ever been in my life. But Paris has such a wonderful vibe to it. Apart from the Gare Du Nord which I agree is possibly the most confusing labyrinthian train station in the entire world. Ok, it has a beautiful frontage, it's just the rest of it that sucks. I think I could spend my life eating French food and wandering the streets and café's of Paris like a bum.

Even the bums in paris look quite happy and healthy. Gare Du Nord was frightening We didnt manage to see it from the outside so it felt even bigger as we had no idea what it actually looked like.

Glad you had fun. I'm really jealous about the catacombs, i've been to Paris twice and never been there. I also bought a book on my last trip detailing (in French) all the eccentric old museums and collections in the city but didn't have chance to visit any of them, i'm definately going back sometime soon.
Know what you mean about the Americans, first time i was on the Metro there we got lumped next to an irritating, loud American family squawking on about a neon plastic Eiffel Tower which played tunes when you turned it upside down. No matter how loudly they cooed about how beautiful it was, it wasn't going to change the fact that they'd just been ripped off 30 euros for a piece of crap!

Go to the Catacombs they are fantastic but try and go when its quiet and you dont have yanks yelling and taking dozens of pictures. You get your 80s matchbox ticket?
