PEACE CORPS INTERVIEWS

Jun 06, 2009 12:43

David and I have Peace Corps interviews on Thursday.  This will probably be the longest process we ever go through.  I just want to be sent somewhere, like 2 months from now would be good.

Yes, finding out that placement for couples is a much longer process is a bit of a downer, but all is well. How long did it take for you to get a invite from the time that you were nominated?

Right now, from what I gather, the process is long period. More applicants and not as many spots. I wouldn't get too freaked out about it though, I've known a fair few couples serving.

You might want to check out yahoo groups Peacecorps2, there's a lot of good information there.

I think I applied end of August, nominated in October (one of my letters of rec was sent to the wrong place) -- med took me a while, there was a hiccup, I got my invite in mid-May, wasn't for the program I was nominated for..

I had only a week between med clearance and invite. Med clearance is the thing that takes a long time.

You have been an invaluable source. Thank you so much. I'm not super worried. There are things I'm really glad that they have changed about the way they do couples service. Apparently up until a few years ago couples had a high ET rate, but they now tend to separate couples during training and they have made the length of marriage requirement longer. Couples now make up nearly 10% of those serving, and there are certain locations that having a couple serving is really logical. Peacecorps2 does have a lot of information, and I'm becoming more confident that we will get nominated, an later an invite. I'm excited. So excited. I am a bit worried about med clearance considering that at the end of August I will no longer be insured in any way, and we are not even up for a nomination until then, but oh well.
