Aunt Carla's Funeral

The sound of the piano brings back memories of my grandma's house. The comforting silence it gives, no matter the darkness that happened before I was born or while I was young. The image of my aunt carla and the day of her funeral. Running with my cousin emily, back and forth, not knowing that my aunt was lying dead in her casket of the dimmly lit ( Read more... )

Wow, I've always had the vaguest memories of this day. I remember two hands lifting up by my rib cage, and hovering over the casket then seeing Aunt Carla's face and thinking there was glass encasing her, like snow white's casket. Now is this true? Or my memory has teased me into thinking of this separation when in fact there was no glass. The room was very dimly lit..and small. The next thing I remember was the wind blowing all these tiny little white flowers over a grave stone. Us little girls huddling around with tiny white flowers being throw on her name.
Very weird, I don't remember Carla. I've always had one memory of her silhouette standing at the opening of a hall way with one arm stretched up on the wall as she leaned on it. I think she was really upset or my mom and her were fighting...

I didn't even see (or maybe I don't remember seeing) carla before the casket was closed. As for the glass encasing her, like snow white's casket, I think that it sounds beautiful the way you remember it. I think Jill was saying that she can remember the stuff that was put into her wound, and how it looked like clay or putty (or something along the line.) You'll have to ask her if you're curious, I'm sure she'd tell you what she remembers of it. I can remember Carla on our driveway about ready to head out somewhere. I also remember her camping with us when we went out into the rocky desert place. You were probably a year or 2 and were in a little tin bucket i think...we have pictures of that too ( ... )
