Why don't you just get a job???

Life has kept me from blogging as much as I want. But that doesn't mean I've forgotten. So where were we. Oh yes that maze of humiliation that is any type of public assistance. Let's say for a minute that you've actually gotten through the screening process and been deemed eligible for some type of benefits. Don't breathe a sigh of relief yet ( Read more... )

I love how creative people can be when they don't want to give you a job because of your disability but don't want to say that because they know you'll drag them through the courts if they do.

Sorry stuff's not going well.

I'm actually doing pretty well. I've found other ways to make money enough that I do for the first time in my life have a little extra. Just a little but even a little is better then none. I got so sick of seeing all that anti welfare get a job get off your butt you lazy ect stuff on facebook and twitter I got angry and at the urging of friends I've turned my experiences into a blog series. It is DISGUSTING that the people who are supposed to help one get off the the system are so willing to pigeon hole you! I have a various times in my life met with every sort of vocational program counselor that we have here. And I have heard all that stuff. I kind of fall into a crack in the flawed system. I'm too "smart" READ I am not cognitively delayed. So I don't qualify for those type programs/jobs (not that I want one that is better suited to someone with more needs) I don't drive that's the biggest thing. And every job I applied for before I found what currently keeps me busy used the not driving, issue as the deciding factor though ( ... )
