Lemon Bathroom Aromatics and A Boy Named Ben (Or... Citronella Sunday)

Wow.... Tonight was... strange.

First off, after I got off work at 1am, me and Hollie headed over to carrs for a jalepeno cheese roll, the good ones next to the donuts... and ended up talking about what we want to do in life. Me and her have all these dreams, and for a while tonight, a lot of them seemed closer than they really are, it was nice. Me and her are like a little earth worm, we can live in two pieces.... but we'd rather stay together. It always takes us several goodbye's and goodnights before we actually head home our seperate ways. It's neat, I really missed having someone like that I see every day. The last time anything like Hollie happened was before Megan left, actually, before Megan graduated. I have so many cool friends, but it's so comforting to go to work every day and have someone there to look for and chat with and do hand signals with while your cashiering. ^_^ But I digress.... the really interesting part of the evening didn't start untill we headed to the bathroom right before we were going to go home. There was this yummy lemony smelling thingie sitting on top of the paper towel dispenser in the carrs bathroom and as we were leaving I couldn't resist picking it up. I thought it was a jell thing... I was going to poke at it, like I poke at everything that interests me, and as I was tipping it towards me, I realized too late that the stuff was liquid, and and ended up dumping it all over the front of my shirt. It was brilliant. Another score for Tara the idiot. So we stayed in there and I took of my shirt to rinse it out, and I was thinking the whole time 'It's cold outside... this is going to suck. But I had left my coat out in G-Baba's backseat, so I had to put the wet shirt back on. I still reeked really bad of citrus-ie lemons wen we headed out to the parking lot, where Hollie was my lookout girl while I ducked behind my car and took of my shirt and put on my pea-coat. I felt a little better, and only slightly reeked of Lemons after that. And with the coat buttoned up you couldn't even tell I wasn't wearing a shirt, although I still felt a little like a flasher in a trench coat. After that, we got in our cars and headed out only to see this kid walking along the side of the road over by the Tesoro on the corner of the Palmer/Wasilla HWY and Seward Meridian. Hollie passed him and I could see him put his hands together like he was pleading, and then I passed him, and he did the same thing... after a few minutes I saw Hollie pulled over on the side of the road so I stopped and looked at her through both our windows. She looked back and made kind of a worried face at the figure down the road, still walking, and I nodded. After a second, I shrugged and smiled and gave her the thumbs up. She knew what I meant and I turned around and headed back. Now, understand... I never pick up hitchhikers.... never. But this one really seemed to need a lift, and he didn't look at all threatening. Actually, he looked about Laurels' age, Maybe 18... probably closer to 16. Somewhere in there. And he was wearing just a t-shirt and jeans. Soo.... I turned around and when I pulled over he gave me this huge big grin, ran over and hopped in. Right about now I remembered that I smelled like I had doused myself in lemon Pine-sol, and was minus a shirt under my coat. But it was too late to kick him out, so I just asked him where he needed to go. 4-corners in the Butte! I was glad I had picked him up... that walk would have sucked. And actually, he had already walked from the middle of wasilla. So it already kinda sucked. Said his name was Ben, and I'm not sure if I believed him or not, but he said that it was his birthday, and that he had gotten into a huge fight with his girlfriend and walked out, and that he was headed towards his home in the butte. Apparently he'd gotten to her house via her car. Who knows... But anyhow, he seemed like a neat guy. Thanked me like every three miles for picking him up, commented that he was glad he at least got picked up by 'A chick who listens to good music'. That made me laugh. I dont think I've ever been called a chick before... ever. The whole night made me feel much better about myself. Hanging out with Hollie, helping out someone I didn't even know... Just being me.

PS- Oh yeah! I almost forgot, like two minutes after I picked up Ben the hitchhiker, we caught up with Hollie and she was dismantling a roadblock someone had put up... It was weird, it was kind of all over the place like a practical joke... but in any case, Ben got out and helped her drag it off into the ditch before we parted ways, and she made a phone hand at me, so I'm supposed to call her and let her know I got home all right. I should do that. It's nice to have someone care. ^_^
