i completely agree with you. i dont think you're being too rash at all, really. i know i'd probably feel the same way if i were in that situation, but you do have to look at what the government can and can't pay for. maybe this is a dumb queston but why are they trying to raise 40,000? wouldn't them visiting home only require a plane ticket from texas to idaho and back? i know that's what my husband did after tech school. he paid for his plane ticket from texas to vegas, then back... then the AF paid his way from tech school to his first station. and he was a poor 19 year old. he could find it.

and i agree about the whole stay at home wife thing too

:)

i added ya, hope you dont mind

my husband got RA and had to pay his way home, and that is a military thing, not a free vacation to spend with me.

i added you back!

i think they want 40,000 to get every guy home....which i dont see how that is fair b/c what if someone CAN afford it? i wouldnt pool my money in then and risk not seeing my hubby. im sorry but that may sound real bitchy but i work hard for my money and i will spend it how i want

I totally agree with you. Some people don't understand that there are thousands of other soldiers over there not just there's and some just think the military is a paid vacation. Its good enough that they remburse moving expenses etc. or move it for you and pay for you to go from one duty station to the next i know some civilian jobs that won't even do that.

I agree, we paid 800+ for a ticket to get David home from Korea during his midtour. It sucked but you either gotta deal with the other 6 months or fork out the cash. It wouldn't be fair for them to pay for some soldiers and not pay for the rest, in any situation.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way

I concur, I mean look how much the military does for families and spouses already.

The only time E got his way home paid is when he took emergency leave for Korea because his grandpa passed away suddenly.

well i agree that that is a lot of money but i also think it's retarded that they're over there anyways. bush is a jackass for sending those poor men and women over there. now of course i support the troops, they're "protecting" our nation from i'm not really sure what but the fact that they are willing to sacrifice possibly losing their lives for the US well thats pretty awesome. but its just stupid that we're over there and they should have to make the decision to come home or not cuz they shouldn't be there in the first place.
