This is a very tantalizing story, with the feelings and more importantly the emotional game of chess being played with those feelings. What are we willing to do to be accepted? What will we sacrifice to get what we want?

This was a really wonderful story about the vampire-victim relationship from the perspective of the vampire. Recently, this has too often been cast as an erotic male vampire, female victim. This had a feeling of returning to older traditions.

This struck me as being an abstraction of multi-level abusive relationship. Giving up everything that makes you "you," being subjected to abuse until you begin to crave it (for it is the only attention you now receive from the one you love), and even destroying yourselves and others in the path to get it once it is the only shred of interaction that makes you feel alive.
