Terry Pratchett is Dead

Terry Pratchett is dead. This doesn't come as a surprise, since he's been very public about his declining health, but I feel it is worth noting. I am a Serious Person who reads Serious Literature and does Serious Things. I am a brain in a jar. The first four or five Discworld novels are actually not that great, which I think turns a lot of people off to the series. It took Pratchett a while to find his groove. Having said that, he wrote a sizable number of books that I dearly love and find highly comforting. I appreciated how up-front he was about facing the prospect of death and that he managed to work right up until the end.

It was Hogfather, but I read Small Gods next. In fact I think I will go reread it now...it's been too long.

Hogfather? What was I thinking? Perhaps there was a specific joke I wanted to share. It may also have been whatever was sitting on my shelf close at hand. Still, I usually lure people in with Small Gods.
