Being Carmen San Diego is complicated. It means that I can and I cannot talk about my job. Sometimes it means that I have to be so vague it's not worth talking about at all--I don't think that I ended up writing much about Moscow, for example. If the Spanish government plants a tracking device on a conference-attendee's car, do not touch it.

Certainly not without rubber gloves, at any rate. ;)

I know when to leave this sort of thing to other people. The tracking device was so bulky and obvious that it felt like a probe of our reactive capabilities. I am not interested in tipping my hand.

God, I know my conferences are pathetic and tedious; do you really have to rub it in? I spent my San Diego visit sitting in my hotel room, eating take-out for the most part. D:

I've had conferences like this, believe me. I nearly fell into a coma of boredom when I was sent to Kansas City.
