I Forgot to Tell You About Several Things...

I suppose there is some advantage to having a space where I've been keep my writing for so long. I went back and looked at my entry for the first day of 2015 I saw that I started this year with a profound sense of ambivalence. I gained and lost so much in 2014. And maybe I had hoped that I was done losing things. Certainly, I couldn't have guessed ( Read more... )

Aw, I didn't even know about your Odd Salon talk. Any chance you have a transcript or video?

I don't think they taped it--they generally don't record these things. I think they should. It would probably make a pretty popular YouTube channel.

I've pitched another Odd Salon talk for February, so we'll see how that goes. The chances that I will do another one before Spring are pretty high.

Stacking trips can definitely be the worst. I'm still in "I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HOME" after November/December. For me, it also matters whether the trips are fun or things that burn my cope... stacking cope burners on any axis against each other when it's the same thing (in my recent case, "I am basically going to have no privacy for two months") is exponentially harder.

I'm glad things went well at the Very Serious Circus School, that sounds wonderful.

Here's to everything staying okay long enough.

I have learned to be very careful with my supply of resilience, especially since I occasionally get a surprise delivery of "No more resilience for you!" Travel for pleasure takes less out of me than travel for work, even a relatively easy work trip. Having zero privacy definitely saps my resilience. I suspect that I need more downtime than your average human.

The new semester of Very Serious Circus School starts today. I will try to take some pictures during contortion so I can track my progress. I'm usually much too self conscious to take photos while training, but I think that having some sort of tangible measure of progress would be helpful. I have proven to myself that I can train hard, but this year I would like to train smarter.
