Generally, when a boyfriend/girlfriend does this, they are insecure and don't trust there significant other. Sometimes it is because they have a major problem bouncing around in there head that they can't address, and end up handling it badly, when they need to handle it properly. Instead of talking about and dealing with it, they try to manipulate there way out of the situation, which is wrong, but forgivable. Sometimes they have a reason to be suspicious, but if they keep being suspicious, the love is basically gone from the relationship anyways. Most often, they are just insecure and whiny, and value the benefits of having a significant other, and all the privileges that entails, more then they value the actual person. Its the sign of a shallow, immature individual, or at least, someone being shallow and immature. But that's just my opinion.
