Believe it or not, I was once thin! (Well, as close as you can be on this frame, I'm built like a truck.) Sorry about the EPIC response time on this.

Why do you feel that way about the armed forces, if I might ask? Because it's dangerous or you don't agree for some personal reason?

And stupid? Thanks dude. It's a stable, long term career with massive potential for personal development and loaaads of room for promotion (All officers are expected to reach Captain after 5 years). With captains having a fairly decent wage (Considering how much the army subsidises and gives you for free, what seems a low wage is actually good, since you don't pay 90% of the things 'civilians' do.).

I do resent the notion that people who show an interest in, or are part of the armed forces are inherently stupid. I don't think _ANYONE_ goes into the army with the intention of getting shot, either.
