Since Dawn had not one boyfriend and one dog, but no boyfriends and two dogs for at least the day, she decided the best way to spend her Saturday would be to take them for a very long walk and let them play outside, especially since it seemed to be a nice, relatively warm afternoon.

Having accomplished his errands in town, Dean was heading back, detouring when he saw Dawn. "Hey," he said as he wandered up, leaning down to pet Scout and looking at the other dog curiously. "Get a new pet?"

"Sort of?" Dawn waved part of a blanket at her. "One dog, and one Sam as a very cute beagle. Where're you going? Ooh, how'd it ever work out with that Reno guy?"

Rikku flopped down on the blanket. "Awwww, that's Sam? He makes an adorable beagle! Do he and Scout get along or are they fighty? 'Cause you'd think they'd be all 'oh, hey, it's you' but you never know. Uh. And I think I did something kinda stupid? You wouldn't think I was evil or anything, would you?"

"So far they're getting along," Dawn was now watching them to see if they started biting each other or growling or whatever dogs did, but took a break to glance over at Rikku. "How stupid are we talking? Like, 'oops, I made a vampire' stupid, or like 'wow, I shouldn't have had broccoli and eggplant before a date' stupid'?"
