I asked the second doc why the other hospital didn't give him drugs the first time around. He said that a lot of hospitals do the pin-em-down-and-shove-it-in routine because drugging them takes up a lot of time and resources. Since he's such a little guy, they were really careful with him. They hooked him up to the monitors and had multiple nurses and the respiratory person there. All together it took about two hours...instead of the 15 minutes that the original one took. But it was so worth it for us to not end up with a traumatized kid. And that doc was amazing. I told him that we would have to replace the tube every three weeks and he said that he would be more than happy to do it for us every time. He was one of the few people that I'd feel totally comfortable trusting my child with. With all of the other docs (ESPECIALLY anti-sushi doc) I have to second guess everything because I can't be sure that they have Scotty's best interests in mind. They want to fix him physically and they don't put a whole lot of thought into anything
