I'm all for anything anti-choice, but I'm a little confused about this one. I don't think I like the redefining rape thing. I'm just not sure how it all fits together. Don't know. If it says what I think it does, I don't even get why someone is trying to start it. Is it just trying to make it harder to define what rape is?
Basically what the bill is saying is that federal dollars won't be able to fund any facility that helps women get abortions who were coersed or that was statitory (like an 18 y/o having sex with a 16 year old and parents having a fit and pressing charges).
What bothers me is that rape should not be defined by such categories. Women have a hard enough time proving their case in courts let alone some law like this, which may spark other laws, that will make it so that people will think: "Oh, if you weren't beaten in to submission you don't deserve help afterwards."
I think I get it. Yeah, that bothers me too. I don't think that's right. I don't like how it's redefining rape, and I don't knwo how I feel about the bill... The whole topic of abortion is the one thing that drives me more up the wall and insane, but I don't like how the bill is redefining rape the way you said it is. Bleh! It's a hard thing to think about is all.
Yeah, the abortion thing is one issue, but I'm afraid of what this bill will bring about in it's wake by redefiing and categorizing something like rape and sexual assault. Thanks for asking about this. I'm glad some people care enough to learn more.
Good lord. It's one thing to be pro-life, but give me a break. A bunch of *men* telling *women,* young women, that the parasite (essentially) inside them is just going to have to stay there, even though its daddy violated its mommy. How about we send them to prison and let them see how they handle it. They won't get pregnant, but they will have their will taken from them. Gahh! Sorry, if you couldn't already tell, people like this really just piss me off. XO
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I experienced sexual assault basically via coersion. So while nothing came of it, I ws afraid for a little while that it did, you know? This also angrifies me (is that even a word?). Haha... so yes thank you. :)

If that makes sense... let me know if it didn't.
