what is it about the past that always feels so welcoming? why is it, that sometimes, we crave the past over the present?

I think that sometimes the past feels so welcoming because it's at the very least, familiar. I think that we tend to fear the unknown that the future possibly holds and we fall back on the familiar and the comfortable. It's predictable, there are few surprises and most importantly, fewer things that could potentially hurt us. At least with hurts in the past, we've already dealt with it and know that pain. It's the unknown that we fear.

Just my 2 cents.
