I need Ipod help please!!!!

Ok so my mini has 171 songs on there and it says it is using 5.6GB and I only have 5.0 GB available. Which makes no sense seeing as it is suppose to hold 1,500 songs. Today I got a 40GB Ipod for $199.99 open box that somebody bought and returned it two seconds later. Yeah I can handle that since I am saving $150

That is really weird and doesn't make any sense... I have a 15 GB iPod, with 2235 songs, and it says I have 6.1 GB left out of a capacity of 13.8. Could you be reading it wrong? Even though they are called a 5 GB or 40 GB, the capacity is a bit smaller (like mine claims 15 but is 13.8) so maybe you are reading it as how much it is taking up instead of what it really means: how much space there is total if it was empty, and how much space is available.

Thank you. I am so dumb sometimes. lol I thought that capacity was how much I was using and available was how much more I had left. Thank you very much for the info. I get it now. YAY!!! lol I swear I am so slow. lol

haha, I was going to say, it didn't seem like it would make sense for both of your iPods to have the same problem! Glad I could help :)
