I could hear it in one ear, but not the other. All those visits to race tracks, I'm sure.

Have you looked at Nashville for work? It is my understanding that Nashville's job market is much more alive right now, they have no state income tax, and it's like 2 hours closer to Paducah. My sister and brother-in-law are involved in state government there, and they love it. I never cared for Nashville (I loved Louisville, though financially it was a very tough town, since you get taxed three times for every dollar you make there), but maybe it would work for you? Good luck!

I haven't really looked much at Nashville, but it's becoming more and more viable. Their sales tax is insane, but... well. How does one get on the state government register for Tennessee, anyway?

Louisville's just been the area that keeps calling me, even though I'm halfway across the state. I have family up there, so if I did get a job there, I'd have someone to stay with until I got established. You've made me think about applying in other states for government positions now, though.

I have no idea how you register with TN, though I'm sure Google could help you on that one. Illinois is an obvious choice too, since it's right across the river. They're all about social programs, too, so maybe there's money to spend on your employment type up there?

Ugh. I heard that. And my teen years are long behind. Ouch.
