I would like to measure the support in the LiveJournal community for equality for all, regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. All the same arguments still apply; retaining my own control over what appears in my list of interests can't be interpreted as a lack of belief in equality.

I don't think it implies that you have a lack of belief if you don't add it.

Hey, that's why this one doesn't have the clause about "If you don't believe in *whatever*, then just ignore this." I don't believe anyone is attempting to wrest any control from you.

I had hoped that the wording I proposed would avoid the implied lack of belief that you speak of; perhaps the problem is intrinsic to any kind of 'meme for a cause'. I must admit, I find your proposed 'contempt' a little antagonistic for my liking.

I guess I could have followed 'want to show your support' with 'in this manner.' Would that have made any difference to you?
