I've read all three now. I have to say this was a very traumatic experience!! Oh my word... are you ok?

I've had a son with the cord around his neck, thankfully he pinked up and that was the end of that, but the same thing happened with the cord.

I have breastfeeding issues.. and I know what the end of this third post feels like, it's awful. Hang in there, you're doing the best you can and no one can expect any better. <3

yeah, i am ok. it took several weeks of crippling post partum depression to get to the point of "ok" and i still have my days, but Koa is happy and healthy and i can't ask for much more than that. it has taken me a while to write these up (he is 14 weeks now) and this one i had to write up twice due to an unfortunate deleting incident. the first one was better, oh well.

incidentally, after the first few days had passed, one small plugged duct and the supply issues, things have been pretty good on the breastfeeding front. what is going on with you, if i may be so nosy?

Well this is quite the explanation, and I don't mind tell you ( ... )

i am glad you did what you could! sounds like a nightmare to not know why your little one isn't thriving. at least you gave the antibodies you could while you could, that is more than many mothers do for their babies, just jumping straight to formula.

my problem was all dehydration really. but i didn't know it and, like you, i was all for the 'everyone can breastfeed' ... giving formula felt like i was a failure.

i did get my milk in though and now i have oversupply issues. i have a freezer full (after losing everything in the freezer a couple weeks ago even) even though my son has eaten 5oz or so at a feeding since he came home at 5 days old. i think i may have to find someone who needs donor milk at this point!

I have to keep reminding myself that I have to finish school before I have kids. Even though I know that it's not all roses and sunshine, I really want a family. I'm one of the few people who doesn't see childbearing through rose coloured glasses, having helped my mom raise my sister from birth.

i am not trying to discourage anyone by any means. i am just relaying my experience as i recall it now, since people had asked about it.
