I was thoroughly sickened this morning when I checked my friends' pages and found a link to the The Daily Kos with eye witness reports and video footage from the streets around the republican party convention in St. Paul. I live in St. Paul, and it was horrible. There were snipers on the rooftops, and riot police everywhere.

It's because we have a lot of free-thinkers and free-speakers here.

Yeah, it was horrible. And just try getting from one place to another... They pulled the plug on a Rage Against the Machine outdoor concert. They instilled a 7pm curfew, they had police gather from six different states. And all of downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis had paddywagons all over the place.

A couple of my friends were arrested in the "poor man's parade", and they're still waiting to be seen/heard. I called the county courthouse, and the phone lines were still busy. At least the places they work are understanding. One of them works in a print shop, and the other in a department store with a really cool manager.
