Who Follow the Gleam: Chapter 3

FINALLY. This chapter has required me to create a general Theory of Magic in Merlin and go through two major revisions. My eternal thanks go to my beta, Bethany, for holding my hand through all that. And for not being afraid to point out that what I was saying initially didn't make sense. :)

I'd nearly forgotten about this story, but this chapter has reminded me why I adore it and why I still adore the possibility of Merlin/Morgana! I love your whole idea about magic - the gleam and the threads connecting everything. (Almost like the Force - only those in tune with it can really see how it flows through everything.) It's brilliant to watch Morgana's wonder as she discovers and experiences it for herself.

I also love the bits of humor scattered throughout - Morgana and Gwen rearranging the furniture (yes! that room never stays the same), and this line: 'Gwen did not ask, as Morgana half expected her to, “Arthur has books?”' Hee. Lovely chap! :)

Thank you! Yeah, there was a major delay with this chapter for a variety of reasons. I'm glad you like the magic. From what we know about it, it seems to me like magic in Merlin most closely resembles the Force in Star Wars and witch magic in Discworld, so I definitely had that in mind!

I'm glad I wasn't just imagining that about Morgana's room. Geez, set decorators!

This is exactly what I've been craving for. Thank you for exploring the possibility of this friendship and I can't wait for the misunderstandings from the other characters.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It seemed like about time for less angst and more friendship. :)

Your Theory of Magic seems to be quite well thought out, and for that I thank you.

(Also, yay for medieval lit! I dabbled in undergrad and roomed next to a gal doing her MA in MedLit in grad school while I took up the history end of the spectrum. I rather miss it! Though, admittedly, if I never have to read another literary criticism or translation (prose or otherwise) of the Wife of Bath, I can die a happy girl.)

Thank you! I do nothing if not put a ridiculous amount of thought into things like this. :)

Yay for medieval history as well! Yeah, the Wife of Bath gets way overdone, and I feel kind of guilty admitting that, when it comes to Chaucer, I'd much rather teach The Book of the Duchess or The Parliament of Fowls.

This is absolutely fantastic! I adore this take on what might have been, and you have a lovely writing style. If this had happened in the show, I wouldn't have had any complaints. :) Very excited to read more, thank you so much for such a wonderful read!
