REALLY? The problem is, we think that the data can't be saved, and that's the most important thing. The hard drive might be compltely gone and in that case, all my data is gone, right?

Yes, really. Well, it depends. There is a definite possibility. Even if the hard drive seems to be messed up there are programs that can get some stuff off of it.
