The Pantheon

A comment in another fic about John always coming out on top like a trickster-god, sparked an idea. Maybe a Sunday spoiler, but it is the inescapable one that I think everyone knows or at least suspects.

So, here AU or far future or something-- The Atlantis Pantheon

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is the Moon goddess and the creator. She controls the tides and breathes life back into ravaged cities. She is the goddess of life and strength, both mentally and politically.

John

John is the Trickster god. He makes messes and seduces women and constantly places himself and some of the others deities in peril. However, John is a crafty god and a protector. He remakes each world he destroys and soothes each heart he breaks and saves all of those he calls his own. Dedicating one's life to John will mean trouble and should not be done lightly. He will guide you to the edge of the world, but if you are his, he will dive off the edge in order to keep you safe. Those who live for John must be ready for trouble at all times and cannot allow themselves any measure of cowardice.

Rodney

Rodney is the God of Innovation and Science. Rodney comes in the lightning flash, in ideas brilliant, deadly, and beautiful. Intolerant of ignorance and the slow wit, Rodney is the god for those willing and ready to push the boundaries of their minds to the breaking point. One cannot follow Rodney solely, however, as he understands nothing of the body or heart's needs. He is also a frustrating god, because he refuses to explain himself. Either one understands or one does not. And if the latter, Rodney will move elsewhere, his brilliance touching and augmenting another's.

Carson

Carson is the God of Death. Carson was once a major God in the City, but, loving mortals too much, he died. He continues now, immortal still, but separate from those in the City. He walks beside those nearing death and guides them into the afterlife. Since his death, no one dies alone.

Ronon

Ronon is the God of the Long Journey and of War. Ronon is a stranger to the Gods, they say. He was mortal once, but was raised to the City after proving his worth and strength. Ronon is strong and a skillful warrior. He does not hesitate. He is known primarily as the god of war and battles, the one invoked for victory. However, any of those who find themselves alone in the world and do not wish for John's dizzying up and down world may apply to Ronon for watchfulness and determination on their long and seemingly endless journeys. Ronon walks alongside the lost, teaching them to stay safe until they find their paths.

Teyla

Teyla is the Goddess of Songs and Paths. She is the Wayfinder. When lost, she is the one to invoke. However, her abilities do not apply solely to geography. Teyla finds Ways around people's hesitations, their masks. She reveals the path for easy communication and trade. Sometimes she will guide one to a place they'd not intended, but she does not abandon those who follow her paths. She is a sly goddess and occasionally opaque, but she never loses her way.

Radek

Radek is the god of communication. Radek passes messages between distant friends and loved ones and between those sitting face-to-face. He also serves as a mediator between the mortals and the gods. He helps to clarify confusing instructions and teaches where others demand. He is also the patron god of teachers as well as of messengers. He is sometimes credited as the creator of wine, the substance which enables communication between recalcitrant parties.

Kate

Kate is the Goddess of the Rising Dawn and Hope. When one is tired, overly weary, and simply hurting, Kate comes. She offers a clearer perspective and comfort. She does not provide absolution, however, or complete peace. Instead Kate helps one to see the situation purely and offers the hope that wounds will heal and knots will unravel. She mediates often for those trying to follow after John or Teyla or the others, but feel as they do naught but fail.

Katie

Katie is the Goddess of growth. She helps both plants and hearts grow strong. Under her careful guidance, love grows strong and well-rooted. While often applied to for romantic love, she is also responsible for the binds of family and friendship.

Laura

Laura is the goddess of understanding and chaos. She is a wild goddess and is often seen as dangerous. Laura breaks down-- explodes misconceptions and wrecks daily, humdrum lives. She forces people to see from completely new and different perspectives. She is the goddess of unlikely romances. She breaks down barriers, creates utter havoc of normalcy, and from that chaos creates ways for people to breathe new ideas and escape the blocked-in caves of their old paradigms. She is known by explosions, the loud thunder crack that accompanies the storm.

Ford

Ford is the God of Dusk, the falling night. He is the shadow god of berserker strength and of the pride of youth. He urges on the lost causes and long shots, encourages others to break from the ways of the City to blaze their own, occasionally disastrous, occasionally mythically heroic and amazing, trails. He is both light and dark. Entire cults have formed around Ford and his rash ecstasy.

Sora

Sora is the goddess of shadows and secrecy. Where Teyla finds paths, Sora obscures them. She leads people inward, forcing them to face their inner demons. She keeps the secrets of the people from the gods and goddesses. Interrupts messages. She is also the goddess of revenge.

Others

Halling is the god of the hearth and home. He protects the household and keeps watch over the home fires while others travel abroad and explore.

Caldwell is the Sun God and also of transportation. He provides safe passage.

Chuck is the god of portals.

Peter is the god of Chance.

Lorne is the god of creativity and thinking outside the box.

Ladon is the god of opportunity.

Perna is the goddess of sacrifice.

Chaya is the goddess of the shield. She protects those who cannot protect themselves and watches over the lonely leaders.
