I was very sad to hear of Leonard Nimoy's passing.

My first super-sized fandom crush, Mr. Spock. I spent the years from 1984 to 2001 voraciously reading Star Trek fanfiction and hunting down Spock h/c. It was torture in those years before the 'net. I actually owned fanzines, since there wasn't anything else

I have one issue of a fanzine somewhere in this house. It was Star Trek and was sent to me by an older, wiser, Trek fan when I was 14 and she was a freshman at MIT. Trek was my first fandom and although I was a Dr. McCoy girl, I loved Spock too and loved their scenes together. Leonard Nimoy was such a huge fixture in the Science Fiction world. I can't imagine him not being here any more.

I don't know why I find this so hard to take in. James Doohan, Mark Lenard, Deforest Kelley... Somehow I could expect that that would happen. But there is something permanent, steadfast in Spock, and by extension, Leonard Nimoy.

I definitely had a crush on Mr. Spock too. I found him fascinating. *g*
