It seems as if so many on my flist are dealing with painful health issues. *hugs* I feel your pain---literally. I've been down all week due to a severe case of sciatica (a fancy word for a herniated disc in your back ( Read more... )

Oh. . . ouch! I get back pain, but not that badly. You poor love! Don't try to do too much too soon when you feel up to tackling jobs.

Shannara is starting over here this week. I'm going to take a look because I read a lot of the books.

I actually sort of tackled my first home improvement job today---just for a couple of hours. My back is sore, but I made sure not to overdo it.

Shannara is pretty entertaining if you can overlook the teeny-bopperishness of it... and it does have some nice male eye candy. :)

I'm pretty sure they used some of the Orc costumes from LOTR for their demons, lol. They look just alike.

Ouch. Back pain is no fun. :( That sounds like the lumbar strains I used to get when I was younger and had a sedentary job. Haven't had any since I quit office work. But Dink has trouble with her sciatic--not from spinal issues but because that nerve gets pinched by her piriformis muscle (her butt muscle, basically, which got overdeveloped from kicking in taekwondo). It gives her hip and leg pain. She had trouble with it this weekend, as a matter of fact. Must be the phase of the moon or something. :(

I think sitting is really, really bad for your back... since I've been attempting to walk more, that's seemed to help it.

Poor Dink! And she's so young, too. I remember having sciatica in high school. Hmmm... I could have the same thing, but definitely not because I have taut butt muscles. :D

I hope she's feeling better!

She's better. She had a couple of rough days but it finally cleared up after stretching and some nightly massage (her dad runs a pool noodle like a rolling pin back and forth over her hip; he does it instead of me because he can put more oomph into it than I can. Amazing how effective that is, but definitely not something you can do yourself). She'd been really lazy most of the winter (haven't we all) but is getting back into shape now and I think that helps, too, so long as she doesn't start doing motions that trigger it again (like taekwondo side kicks!)

oh man, sciatica is so painful!!!! Really, the best thing to do is to rest it as much as possible with ice on it. I had that happen a few times (ironically when I was in my 20s), and basically just taking about 2-3 days to be immobile with ice on it made it heal pretty fast. General advice will be to NOT stay immobile, but I really do believe that's why I was able to recover as fast as I did from it when I've had it. Besides, it's impossible to truly stay immobile, I mean, you have to get up to go to the bathroom, etc.

These past two weeks were fairly awful, I have to say. I've never had pain this bad for this long---not even with my gallbladder issues.

I agree that resting is really good for it---I've been really working on not overdoing it, too.

Someday your house will be exactly as you imagine it, and you'll feel happy and proud that you were able to do it all yourself. But your poor back!

I watch lots of reality shows. :)

I feel like the house will never get done... I have to remember to ENJOY doing it, lol. And by the time it does get done, I'm sure I will be a broken-down old lady. :)

*hugs*

OMGosh, I'm so sorry for your awful pain and difficulties functioning. Glad that it's starting to heal a bit. It will get better, but when you're in the middle of it, it seems like it never will. *hugs*

I've had to really watch it---it's so easy to upset it again. Thank you for your sympathies! :)

*hugs you*
