I had to smile at your comment on fabric. When I made dolls house curtains I used to buy the odd fat quarter, not for curtains but just to pull out occasionally and stroke.
You sound a bit like me, and there's actually a fairly new "label" for that: extroverted introvert. I can enjoy being at a party now and then, or being with a big group of friends or even acquaintances, but I need a lot of time between those types of events, and a lot of down-time afterward (and some before). And at those events, I'm usually the one that's quietly listening more than talking. Mostly I'm introverted, but I'm just enough extroverted that I fit into the E/I category.
