I'm glad that Mike figured out the root of why he wanted to become a truth-teller. I need to look more into this world because I very much enjoyed this. :)

Thanks! This happens about 15 years before I pick up with the main story, so instead of seeing Mike, you'll see Mr. Fairon. Now I'm tempted to continue this backstory segment, though. :)

I love the idea that "truth teller" is also literal. You will see the truth, but you must also tell it, always. Embrace it entirely or not at all.

Thank you! I borrowed the idea of always having to tell the truth and then gave it a spin by adding the flip side of the coin. I think it's more interesting that way.
