Lily arrived home late Wednesday night after her first driving class; she was working on getting her Driver's License to help with deliveries at the Auto Shop. Tired but still restless, Lily was also frustrated with cleaning so she set herself up in the guest bedroom to study. She was pretty on top of her school work, but this whole driving thing ( Read more... )

Draco was in the shower when Lily came in so he didn't notice her presence in the apartment until after he had dressed in his boxers and a t-shirt. When he heard a noise in the guest bedroom he poked his head in. "Hey you." he says

Lily loved the guest bedroom - it was... cozier than most of the other rooms in the flat.

"Hey, how was your day?" she replied automatically, not looking up as she underlined something in her manual and dog-eared the page to return to it later.

"Full of the usual. I passed out here as soon as classes were over. I really need a hobby." he joked. He leaned against the door frame, not fully coming into the room. "Busy day? You didn't get back till late."

"A hobby is a great idea, actually," she said looking up from her seat on the bed.

"I had my first driving class tonight," she frowned, "Didn't I tell you about that? It's for work."

Draco put his head against the door frame. He didn't want to do this. He had avoided talking about this for years. "Lily, tell me what you think my father is in jail for." he asks

Eyes wide, Lily backed up slowly until she could feel the edge of the bed against the back of her legs. In a voice barely above a whisper, she said, "You don't have to... I'm sorry. It's late, I'm tired, and I shouldn't have even brought it up." She didn't like seeing him like this, and now that she'd "won" she wasn't quite sure she was ready to hear it anyway.

One day I'm going to have to tell you. thought Draco. He looked over at the clock. Now wasn't the time. He wasn't in the right state of mind. He would have just told her everything at once with nothing to soften the blow. He had gone of the scenario many times in his head and each time it ends up with her leaving him.

"I'm sorry." he says softly "I'm tired too. I know you feel that I'm keeping things from you and I hate for you to feel that way."

"When you want to know. Just ask." he adds.

Lily studied his face and found it only mirrored the pain and confusion she was feeling as well. Tears welled up in her eyes and she swayed a little on her feet. Dinner probably would have been a good idea, she mentally kicked herself, sitting down on the bed before she got too unsteady.

She nodded and offered a weak, 'I don't hate your guts' type of apologetic smile, not knowing what to say or where to go from here.

Draco noticed Lily falling over and he walked over to her and offered his hand. "We're both tired." he says "Why don't we go to sleep?"
