Lily arrived home late Wednesday night after her first driving class; she was working on getting her Driver's License to help with deliveries at the Auto Shop. "Hey, how was your day?" she replied automatically, not looking up as she underlined something in her manual and dog-eared the page to return to it later.

"I had my first driving class tonight," she frowned, "Didn't I tell you about that? It's for work."

Eyes wide, Lily backed up slowly until she could feel the edge of the bed against the back of her legs. In a voice barely above a whisper, she said, "You don't have to... I'm sorry. It's late, I'm tired, and I shouldn't have even brought it up." She didn't like seeing him like this, and now that she'd "won" she wasn't quite sure she was ready to hear it anyway.

"I'm sorry." he says softly "I'm tired too. I know you feel that I'm keeping things from you and I hate for you to feel that way."
"When you want to know. Just ask." he adds.

She nodded and offered a weak, 'I don't hate your guts' type of apologetic smile, not knowing what to say or where to go from here.
