[So much has been going on. Too much. Sure, Lily's used to complete and utter chaos, but after that... all that shit with the Halloween party and its lengthy aftermath... she was overwhelmed. She's been noticeably off ShipNet, preferring to keep to herself. It's funny how therapeutic turning off your communicator can be ( Read more... )

[Oogway settles beside her without preamble.]

...

[And says nothing for several minutes, also watching the sky.]

Beautiful. Ishn't it?

[It's not really a bad kind of silence. It's more like a nothing-needs-to-be-said silence.]

Yeah.

[Lily kicks her feet a little. The water swirls around them.]

It's been beautiful for two years.

All things musht end, eventually. Change is neither good nor bad; only different.

[Deeeeep inhale through his nose- exhaaaaale. A few pink peach-blossom petals flit across the water like little boats. They weren't there before, but they don't seem t have come from anywhere, either.]

Tell me what you have learned.

[Lily runs a hand through her hair. With all the bullshit she's been put through, it's hard for her to not see change in black and white with no gray between. Two years is nothing compared to Oogway's thousand, but it sure feels like a thousand to her.]

Change is, uh... [The word she's thinking of is "inevitable", but she goes for a simpler synonym.] ... unavoidable. I guess. [She leans back on her hands.] But you can... change change, I guess. It doesn't have to be random or anything?

[Vincent isn't lost. Really. The doors just aren't always leading where they're supposed to, so this time an attempt to get back to his room from deck four has just bumped him up a deck. It's not so bad, really; Vincent's found that if one elevator doesn't function properly, trying the other has a slightly higher rate of success these days.

He's traversing the deck in silence with a small white box of something when he spots Lily. He hasn't heard from her in...a very long time. He hasn't been consciously worried, they aren't close enough for that, but he's simply not comfortable passing her by.

So Vincent moves over to stand next to her, in spite of the way something in him coils at the proximity to the water and much less menacing a figure without his cloak on. He takes a second deciding what he's going to say.]

It's...good to see you out.

[Lily looks up. Vincent, how nice to see you! Kind of! It's true, they aren't really close enough for... any sort of relationship, really. Still, it's nice to see him. After hiding away for so long, it's nice to see anybody.]

Yeah, thanks. Hi.

[... Yeah, he's not so scary without his cloak. He looks kind of... small. In comparison, anyway.]

How're you?

[...Yeah, it's a lot more obvious that he's made of toothpicks and dental floss with the cloak off. Vincent moves the box from one hand to the other, holding it against his hip.]

I've been worse.

[And he tilts his head backward slightly; habit from wearing the aforementioned missing cloak, under normal circumstances this would make his mouth visible where it normally isn't.]

And you?

[There's an edge of something there. He really is concerned, Lily.]

Alright, I guess.

[Concern? That's kind of comforting. Lily shrugs.]

Lots of stuff's been going on and all. You know. Things. And all. [Eloquence!] I dunno how I feel, really.

[Emotions are confusing.]

What's in the box?
