Inside Baseball...

I hit my first baseball when I was five years old. I remember it was on a stick thingy and I was told to swing at it and I did. The ball flew and I ran around the bases for a homerun. I hit home run after home run when I played Tee-Ball. My Dad was so proud.

Very sweet and sad all tied together.

Do you regret not playing baseball longer?

I'm glad you put your energy into art and writing because you became a wonderful writer.

Life does circle. I see that more and more as I get older.

I really like your take on the topic.

I sometimes wonder if I could have been the first girl in the major league or something like that. I was really good at a very young age. But I don't regret it so much as I regret not thinking I was a good writer until I was older. I wasted a lot of years thinking that the stuff I wrote meant nothing.

“You really want to tell your CO that your 10 year old son picked on my 5 year old daughter and got his ass kicked?”

Funny, that's similar to what my wife used to say right before a bar-fight as her last warning to the dude she was about to throttle (i.e. "You want to tell your friends/the police that you were just beaten up by a girl?").

FYI, this piece got under my skin an a really good way. It reminded me that I couldn't even hit the tee-ball, and my father still made me join Little League.

That's a really nice memoir. It ties up a lot of emotions into a neat package, but it lets the reader infer a lot. Very well put together.
