So my Dad is gone for the weekend, everyone in the house seems to give a general shout of hurra when this happens. I guess I never really realised how fucked up my mom and dad's relationship was but, returning home after a year away has really made me see how it is. She needs him because she can't support herself financially and he needs her

Yes ma'am to the mother-father dynamic, step in my case. I flat out said to my stepfather this morning when he was in spun-out snit mode over some hyperbole ridden expense, "Do not be mean to my mother." She's been out of hygiene for three years now due to arthritis and choosing to homeschool my little brother so he is the breadwinner entirely. Too bad he gets up every day at noon and tries to work a full day of calling clients two and a half hours away in five hours. Sigh.

Is it a south of Mason-Dixon thing?
