Well, the nice thing about Painter 5.5 is that it's very similar to Painter 6. The big difference if I remember correctly is the lack of layers; for my useage that isn't that big of a deal, but it can be really annoying if you're not used to working with just one layer, especially as far as starting lineart in the program itself. It seems that Painter 5.5/6 was made mostly for importing scans to color, honestly, not so much actually doing entirely digital work
