So we owe Clint Eastwood a debt of thanks.  Not only because it was a truly hilarious twelve minutes of improvised awesome in a week of scripted blah, but because it advanced our understanding.

This President has issues, and there are very legitimate debates to be had about his policies and actions, and successes and/or failures as President.  I ( Read more... )

Yeah. I have been sort of following internal U.S. politics since the end of the Clinton era. To an outsider it's like a crossover between a soap opera and a reality show.
I thought I'd reached the peak of bafflement when Bush obtained a second term, but the current Congress and the possibility of Romney actually being elected.... I don't get it.

This pearl of wisdom from Jon Stewart cleared up a part of my bewilderment.

It looks like a soap opera reality show from here too. :p

I love the Daily Show and Colbert Report. That's pretty much the only way I get my news nowadays.

Daily Show, Colbert Report and Rachel Maddow are practically my daily dose.
To be fair, I did try watching Fox, and some of its shows, but it was simply too surreal for me.
I really like Maddow so I also went searching for different viewpoints on her, to gain a more realistic perspective on her and her show. However, all the negative comments were simply... on the extreme of negative. That much hatred and vitriol truly stunned me so I backed off.
As for Stewart and Colbert, I enjoy their sense of humour and satire. It's a joy to watch. Sometimes it's the only thing that makes me laugh during a day....
