Snape not a hero?!!!

Excuse me? Whatever bitch! Man I can't believe she said that! I know Snape is nasty, he's a very grey character but he's still a hero! Whatever his motives, he put himself in harms way many times for the good of Harry, Dumbledore and the Order!! And she said it to a bunch of 11 year olds. Way to inspire Jo! And to think she used to be my ( Read more... )

I never take her interveiws too seirously. Either she's totally mental or she is deliberately misleading. Remember when she said, "Who would want Snape to be in love with them?"

Well, as a man in love, he is loyal to an extreme. His devotion outlasted the life of the woman he loved and turned into protection of her son. He didn't hate her, even when she broke his heart. Who wouldn't want someone to love them deeply, truly, and forever?

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks she's "totally mental". :)

Yeah, Snape is definitely a hero! No matter what anyone else says! But now JKR is saying he's a hero anyway so ok then.

Maybe... she means hero in the sense of "role model"? Because she IS talking to children, now that I've thought about it, she's probably trying to tell them that his life isn't one you want to follow, but be like Harry or Hermione and make good choices early on and try to treat people with respect, etc, etc.

Well no Snape isn't a good role model that's for sure lol. Though he might be for troubled teens, or at least I hope so.

Love Snape...he's one of my favorite characters.

However, I have to agree with lolli14 here. If JKR says that he wouldn't have helped Harry and Dumbledore if it weren't for Lily...then she's right. How can she be wrong about a character she created?

All of us have our own thoughts on Snape. To some he will seem like a hero, to others, he won't be anything but an evil nasty git. *shrugs* I don't consider him a hero, but that's okay. He doesn't need to be a hero to atone for his sins. I'll still love him all the same.

Well JKR keeps changing her mind about a few things. Now she says Snape is a hero so I don't think I'll put much stock into her interviews anymore. I certainly consider Snape a hero. An anti-hero but still a hero! Anti-heroes are the best!

I dunno. If you die for a cause, no matter what that cause is, would that not make you a hero? Say Snape died for the DE's and Voldie while trying to smack down Harry. That would make him a hero, right? Especially if he showed true bravery, etc?

It makes me sad to see JKR malign him so, and I daresay that the entire time I read that sad, stupid chapter I thought of you. :( Poor Snape. It still makes me sad. I'm not "over it" yet. :( :( :(

Snape is definitely a hero and I don't care what anyone says!! But yeah, it wasn't nice how he died.
