2. Assuming the card is an PCI card like this one

try reseating it. That is, remove the case, ground yourself, pull the card out, push it back in.

on the TV, the RGB is component video. They split the old yellow cable which carried the whole video signal into the red, blue, and green color components, for a better signal. i find it weird that the TV doesn't come with at least one composite video. I don't know if they sell converter boxes for that.

correction: they do sell stuff liek that but it's not cheap, since it has to upsample the signal:

i'm pretty sure that's what you need, but at that cost, i'd just rather get a new cable box

+1 for new cable box. The new satellite boxes have the old AV hookups, S-video, component and HDMI connectors.

Someone else suggested I get a cable box with an hdmi hook up.. sounds like a plan.

Thanks.

yup, I'll agree with both the proposed solutions here.

Not really no.

With a no-video situation, assuming the machine is powering on and you hear the bootup beeps, then re-inserting the card is pretty much all you can do. If that doesn't work, you will have to replace it.

With regards to the TV, the one you bought seems only to have component inputs and your cable box doesn't have component outputs, so while you could buy converters, it really isn't worth it, much better to just get a newer cable box that will have the component outputs.
