Yeh, its pretty rude. I wouldn't feel too insulted though. Obviously she has her own issues. I almost exclusively socialise via the internet, but even I can't stand to actually enter into a proper chat scenario. I think those that do, are reaching really hard for something. Its like a valleygirl on her cell phone (the stereotype), filling the holes in their lives with connections.
I'm not a good friend myself. Ive drifted from almost all my friends. I think sometimes its just hard for people to connect and stay connected. In a Futurama episode about Star Trek, Fry talks about feeling like you're a part of a friends group (from watching tonnes of star trek). I'm the same. Filling in those holes with anime mostly. Dreams of having some group like in 'Friends' who are always around to stimulate me.
In fact, its why I bought the Trigun boxset recently. I really wanted to revisit fond memories, to see people meet and grow together. Oh well, tis modern urban life eh?
