That is a thoroughly interesting set of articles.

I haven't talked about the incident to anyone here in Oman except my American friend. I'm not about to go anywhere near the subject with my students, and most of the Arabic friends I'd traditionally discuss stuff like this with are busy (just like I'm busy) and we don't have a lot of time to chat.

It's worth noting that both the American friend (also a teacher) and I thought only a cultural moron would do something like name a teddy bear Mohammed, but if she was new to the country, maybe she wasn't used to the issues yet.

I just had to look somewhere else too.
