I blame Poltergeist, god that freaked me out every time I watched it, when the clown doll drags Robbie under the bed, but I loved Killer Klowns from Outer Space, so go figure.

Never have and never will watch Poltergeist,(yes Dear, I am cinematically deprived)but I am in agreement...Clowns freek me out and I'm 29.

It's funny . . . the clown from Poltergeist never really spooked me. It was the pool of corpses that freaked me out.

Killer Clowns from Outer Space, though? I saw that when I was seven and have never been the same.

Still like Cotton Candy, though.

PS -- where's samcallahan's "What do you fear, m'lady?" icon when you need it?

But do they fear them more than pain or death?

The circle is now complete. You rock. donutato_kun January 18 2008, 06:07:05 UTC
I think for most people, sitting through a clown act IS painful, and probably less preferable than death.

I think young kids are afraid of anyone that dresses up funny. I remember the one wedding I went to where the groom put on a bunny suit during the toast. All of the kids under four or five started crying and had to be taken outside to calm down. Also, my one year old niece cried when Santa Claus tried to pick her up and hold her on Christmas Day...
