Character Name; Kazumi
Canon; Puella Magi Kazumi Magica
wikiCanon Point; Chapter 11, while she remembers the past
Age; somewhere around 13-15
House; Heimdall. Kazumi's dedication towards protecting her friends, and her attempts at bringing Airi-Yuuri back from being a Witch make her a good candidate for this house.
Power; Damage Drain
Personality; An amnesiac who can't remember anything but her name at first, Kazumi is a Puella Magi as well as the founder of the Pleiades Saints, a seven-girl witch hunting team. Although usually cheerful, Kazumi's mood has a tendency to become unpredictable, with spontaneous reactions. She's somewhat of a ditz, once forgetting her skirt when transforming, and is a talented cook, not to mention somewhat of a glutton.
For the most part, Kazumi likes all kinds of foods equally, and can be a messy and noisy eater, and has claimed she can tell what kind of person someone is from how they eat. She believes wasting food is bad, and that the bad guys are the ones who don't finish their food, something originally stated by Umika, and because of this, befriends Souichirou Tachibana, whose suitcase she woke up inside of, due to his shared views of wasted food being bad. She even goes as far as to defend him when they are confronted by the police, and later invites the detective over to eat, during which she claims the strogonoff she made is a special kind that can detect if someone is good or evil, before going on to accuse the detective of setting up Tachibana in order to make herself look good.
Although she doesn't remember them, Kazumi cares deeply for her friends, and is highly protective of them, to the point where she loses a battle with a witch once out of fear she might hurt Kaoru again with her attack. Kazumi also cares for the people she likes in general, and during a battle with the witch form of Airi-Yuuri, after watching a vision of Airi's past, decides Airi isn't a bad person. Unfortunately, Kazumi's attempts at trying to change Airi back to normal fail, as Juubey explains that there's nothing that can be done now that she's a witch, other than to kill her. Kazumi, of course, can't bring herself to do such, and at first watches as the others take on that burden for her, before casting Limiti Esterni to finish her off, and picking up Airi's spoon, telling the Pleiades she'll share the burden with them. She later asks Tachibana to add the 'Bucket o' Parfait' to his menu, after having another vision of Airi and Yuuri eating the parfait; although he declines, as she continues to eat, before she starts to cry, stating that Airi and Yuuri couldn't have eaten it.
Kazumi's lack of memories doesn't particularly seem to bother her much. While she tends to be surprised when she remembers little glimpses of her past, Kazumi is content with becoming a "new" Kazumi, rather than attempting to be the "old" Kazumi, complete with getting a new (shorter) haircut. Still, she remains curious about the past, and when the death of Airi-Yuuri doesn't bring back her memories, she asks Nico if perhaps there's any way to restore lost memories, and also asks if perhaps the Pleiades hid the truth about witches so that she wouldn't have any painful memories. While Nico tells Kazumi that she may have plenty of regrets, Kazumi is alright with this, stating that all of that made her what she is now, and that she won't run away from her old self. Despite this, Kazumi still is shocked and angered when she finds out that the Pleiades take Soul Gems from other Puella Magi, and demands to know why they do this; upon arriving at 'the Freezer', where the Pleiades store the bodies and Gems of the Puella Magi whose Gems they've taken, it's explained to her that they're attempting to go against the Puella Magi system, and that they hope to one day find a way to reverse the process. It's at this point that Umika touches her forehead to Kazumi's, and tells her to remember the past.
The Kazumi of the past, incidentally, happened to be somewhat of a jerk when she first met the Pleiades. Although she rescues them from jumping to their deaths, Kazumi then threw them into a Witch's barrier, leaving them to fend for themselves. As she puts it, "You don't want to be eaten by the familiars? But didn't you want to die?" She does eventually come to their aid, though, tossing them muskets to fight with, before finishing off the Witch with Limiti Esterni. After that, Kazumi is more or less the way she normally is, inviting the girls to eat because she's hungry.
So far, Kazumi's wish is unknown, though it appears that she became a Puella Magi on the same day that one Mami Tomoe rescued her from a Witch. Having rushed home from studying abroad upon receiving news of her grandmother's failing health, Kazumi encounters a Witch, though Mami, who had been visiting Asunaro City at the time, quickly takes care of the problem. At her dying grandmother's bedside, Kazumi laments on how there was so much more she wanted to learn, begging her to open her eyes one last time. It's then that Juubey appears, telling Kazumi he can grant that wish if she becomes a magical girl.
One noteable aspect of Kazumi's appearance is her ahoge. While it acts at first as a pseudo-witch detector, her ahoge also changes shape with her emotions, forming things like a flower, or even a heart. The swirl like design also appears as a motif on her Soul Gem and hat.
While generally a cheerful person, Kazumi had something of a Beserk Button, that being her bell earrings, which also house her Soul Gem. Kazumi has been shown to fly into a rage if someone tries to grab them or otherwise touches then, and it can be inferred that the earrings are a precious posession of hers.

Whoah... this thing really works!? No way! I bet Nico would get a kick out of this.
Hey, everyone! My name's Kazumi, and it looks like I'm here to help restore the world... though I kind of wonder how that even works.
[She looks like she's pondering this for a bit, her ahoge forming a question mark, even, when, at this point, there's a loud grumbling coming from Kazumi's stomach. Food for thought...?]
First, though... I'm hungry! Is there anyone else wanting something to eat? Just leave it to me, and I'll make you some of my grandma's strawberry risotto ♥!
[Her ahoge now forms a heart, though very quickly, Kazumi resumes looking curious and confused as before.]
So... I wonder how you turn this thing off. Maybe a special spell works, like... Bibbidy-Bobbity-Boo!
... No?
Log Sample; One didn't simply hunt witches on an empty stomach.
Well, maybe that wasn't exactly the right choice of wording. It was true, though, that food tended to rule Kazumi's life, and that more often than not, hunting witches left her hungry. So, as it was, Kazumi was cooking up a storm at the moment, making enough food to feed an army; it wasn't too far off the mark if one considered the rest of the Pleiades, really. Seven Puella Magi could go through this food quickly enough after a day of witch hunting, and without wasting any of it, either.
Bustling back and forth throughout the kitchen, Kazumi's bell earrings gave a merry little jingle as she went about with the preparations and the mixing and all the other processes that went into cooking for seven. Was she a glutton? ... Maybe, just a little bit, but she never let any of the food go to waste, not to mention, for the most part, Kazumi liked just about anything, especially Umika's cooking. Dipping a ladle into a pot of soup she had simmering on the stove, she tested a small amount, before reaching for the spices. "It needs a little more pepper," Kazumi remarked, grabbing the shaker. After stirring in the added amount, she gave it another go. "Great ♥! It's perfect, now."
Jingle jingle jingle... Kazumi's earrings continued to provide the musical accompaniment to her adventures in cooking, as she started to hum along to an unknown tune. Ah... this was great, getting to cook for friends. While Kazumi still couldn't recall any memories of from before she had woken up in Souichirou Tachibana's suitcase, it would seem that she hadn't forgotten how to cook, or how to cook well, at that.
She could live with this, for now, she thought.
