I can hear four million hardcore windows-using anti-mac script kiddies sobbing their sad little eyes out.

Have you used a mac for a week?

The best comparison I can think of is the following: Imagine a man who has eaten nothing but sand his entire life. Its not good, but when its all you know, its all you know. Not like you'd eat rocks or grass or something stupid like that. Then, someone introduces him to ice cream.

And now with the intel chips and the growing possibility of dual-booting windows or mac off of those computers... Dizzam.

lol, I'm going to drop the metaphor now and just say the following:

I have yet to find a program for the PC that I can't play on the Mac with the exception of games, and considering that a lot of the better ones are for both systems, I'm set. If I wanted to be a serious gamer anyway, I'd move to the console.

I think arguing the trendiness aspect of the Mac is like getting mad at the Dodge Viper or Porshe Boxster because all of the rich guys have them. That says nothing about the car, it just says stuff about the rich guys who drive it once a week when trying to look cool.

And in regards to the CD, you can push a button now and it ejects.

Err... why?

That's my question.

I mean, my car's an '84 Ford Thunderbird. Not exactly the cream of the crop, but you know, it gets me from Point A to point B. It dies on occasion, but I, as a hard working individual, can deal with a little car trouble. There are other ways to transport myself. So...

Why would I go out and randomly buy a Lexus or an Escalade? My ford is fine. Semi-reliable, but I like it. It's got all my personal stuff in it anyway. And the Lexus or Escalade would do the same damn thing as my Ford, gets me from point A to point B. So... um...the question -I- have for Mac vs. Windows is --why--?

I wouldn't recommend getting it just to be getting it; wait until you decide to buy a new comp. At that point, its simply a choice. I find the UI to be more intuitive, I've never had it crash or come close to freeze, everything handles smoother/looks better, and all the programs I had on my PC I have mac versions of now (Word, Powerpoint=iWork, Graphic Design programs, WoW, iTunes, Firefox, a tax program, VLC media viewer, and that doesn't count the stuff I use less than once a week.). Plus Mac has had all of three viruses, which have all been patched within days of discovery.

I guess the only question I can throw back at you is when looking to buy a new car someday, if you can afford that Lexus, why not?

The answer is because the Ford is mine. It's what I know how to use. Same for Windows. I know Windows. It's got all my personal crap in it. I don't use it so much for gaming as I do just familiar interface.

I won't ever get a mac because I just don't want one. My cheaper, windows system cam do all the same crap the Mac can do. For less money. All the mac really has going for it is 'WOWZ, I'M PRETTY!, and I can only think, 'Yeah...but so is Guild Wars, and it also sucks.'

It's really a matter of preference. Why get the BIGGER, BETTER, BADDER system when the one you have suits you just fine.

*confused* maybe I missed something in your questioning. If you have all of your personal crap in it, then I suggested to just wait until you have to buy a new comp and transfer all that stuff anyway. As for learning the respective interfaces, I learned 9/10ths of what I needed in a couple day's time.

And in regards to the mac=windows+money, I'll agree. Its more expensive than the counterpart, but for that you get a smoother, more reliable, and overall easier to use system. I was willing to foot the 200 extra dollars on the lack of viruses alone.

I agree its a matter of preference, but I just prefer the system I can rely on.
