Jeannette freezes, biting her lip as she furiously wipes at her eyes. She doesn't answer, crossing her arms and dropping her bag.

This would be a lot easier if she was allowed to cross the street.

Jerking away from his touch, Jeannette begins to cry harder.

"Running-- running away," she gets out, arms wrapped around herself. "So you won't have to get rid of me yourself."

This time, House catches her by the shoulder, just firmly enough that she can't pull away. "Listen to me, Jeannette. I am not going to get rid of you, and I never will. You're my girl, and that's not going to change just because we also have Michael and Gabe now. But you do not get to run away, or go wherever you want, or do what you want, just because you're upset with me or Papa. We love you, Jeannie, and you scared me by trying to run away. Don't ever do that to me again. I need you, honey."
