Kayaking

I'm excited and just about ready to go out for our first paddling adventure with our new kayaks. Had a heck of a time finding my vest. It's been almost 2 years since I last used it! I still need to pick up a paddle leash and carrier for the boat. I have ready to go: kayak, paddle, dry bag, vest, water shoes, garbage bag, container for spent

Where are you kayaking?? I love kayaking, and miss it. We can actually kayak the Hudson for free with kayaks from the downtown boathouse, but it's a lottery system and only on certain days. The kayaks are the silly open kind.

We have a nice little lake just down the road a few miles. It was awesome! Don't tell her I said so, but Casey has the "silly open kind." She likes it because it's about the most stable thing going. She wants to be sure that she stays in it - unless she *wants* to get out of it! Her description of what she wanted was "an inner tube with pointy ends." That describes it pretty well. ;>)

Thought of you on the weekend: was down by Sydney Harbour watching and envying the three or four people I saw in sea kayaks "messing about in boats". Haven't kayaked for a while, love it.

I love it, too. I think I have a new addiction - but this one isn't at all harmful! How's that for a change of pace? ;>)
