RL: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. [Lina, Xellos. Not Open]

Mar 28, 2008 17:39

"Got you curious, have I?" Lina tented her fingers, legs folded, back towards the visitor she knew was there. Xellos had a certain aura about him she'd learned to detect after the bastard had spent well over two years sneaking up on her unnanounced ( Read more... )

Xellos was smiling. It was a rare thing for him to not be smiling. After over a thousand years that smile has become more then just a habit. He leaned back against the wall by the window as she spoke, gesturing lightly with one of his hands. He could feel the wards she set up, but he felt the need to add his own.

The window slammed shut, seemingly of it's own accord, seals were strengthened, shields locked firmly in place and any insect infesting this quaint little rented room was promptly annihilated. A beast is a beast and even the tiniest of them couldn't escape the Greater Beast's eye if she so chose.

"Why, Miss Lina, if you were anyone else I'd think you were taunting me!" He finally met her eye to eye, peeking out at her from the shadows of his hair. "Name your price."

She felt the snap of energy around the rented room. It was like shutting a second thick, steel door over a fortified wall-- "just in case." Lina understood the paranoia. The things they were speaking about could get them both killed before either of them were even aware of the leak ( ... )

His eyes widened a bit as he listened to her proposition, still leaning back against the wall with his staff cradled in the crook of his arm. Half Mazoku stood out and echoed about through his mind. The possibilities swirled a number at a time through his mind. Possibilities... and repercussions. He knew with out a doubt that Lina had thought this through to every possible end. As a human she had access to spells he cannot himself use. She was also, quite possibly, the only human alive to directly come in contact with the Claire Bible.

This was also the closest thing to a 'moral conundrum' that he has ever come up against. It's not that he didn't want freedom, Gav had put that thought in his mind ages ago. If he'd ever wanted anything for himself before it was freedom. Anything he'd ever considered his has always been taken from him by Mother Dearest. Though, it was usually forced by his own hands ( ... )

Lina nodded slowly. "The longer we wait the more likely it is we'll be found out." Her eyes darted around quickly. "That's part of why I wanted you to become half mazoku anyway. I know you can't fight her, but the non mazoku half of you can. And," She smirked, "The mazoku half of you can help me. You can't throw a fireball at Zelas, but you can fuel me. Think of yourself as a battery. Until Zelas outright forbids you from it anyway, and let's both hope we're far enough along by then that it won't matter."

She let out an involuntary shudder. Lina was fearless, not stupid. She may have defeated Zelas's boss but that didn't make her any easier to contend with. She knew damn well that without Xellos's full support she'd never be able to do it. And if it had been for any other purpose she'd have doubted his support severely ( ... )
