In most of those cities the quality of the neighborhood will vary from block to block. Parts of NY, LA, DC and NoLa are extremely dangerous, especially alone at night. You should be fine in Vegas if you stick to the strip and stay alert. Always keep an eye on your drink at all times, no matter where you are. I'd say Seattle is the safest of the bunch (Portland as well.)
Do you know what parts to stay out of? I guess I can always ask when booking in somewhere but like to be prepared & I always keep an eye on my drink & stuff :-) Thanks!
I'm really going to say that like pretty much anywhere, you'll probably be ok if you stick to the well-lit, well-populated, touristy bits. (Though my brother maintains to this day that trying to get anywhere in LA without a car is pretty much impossible and not something he ever wants to try again.)
To be honest, the only one of those I've ever been to is NY and I've always gone with people who either live there or know it reasonably well. Do you actually know anyone who lives in/near any of these cities cause they'd be my first stop for local knowledge.
I'm not too worried, after all I moved to the UK on my own so should be OK to look after myself but america is so much bigger & busier so just want to check before going. Only really worried about being out after dark :-) I am meeting someone at the end in seattle but other then that I don't know anyone (have friend in South America were I'm going afterwards thou).
You will be safe in all these cities...just use common sense

If you are going to all these cities, wow!
Anyway, a single woman is appreciated in any and every bar in America. No issue there.
Vegas is a party and gambling town; Saturday nights is when things get really crowded. New York City is a great place to visit--I've lived there--and it is awake 24/7 to do anything you want. Great food, shows, and more. I live in SF Bay Area--the best place to visit and live. Incredible city. A lot of fun bars in the city.
Have fun. If you are staying at hotels, they will tell you where to go based on what interests you. Of course, you can even check out the internet.
