Oh my god, I love this SO MUCH. Just, yes. The backstory and their relationship and the teenage confusion and then teenage love and misunderstandings and just ALL OF IT. And the ending was totally ace. ♥
Oh, I was so apprehensive about reading this at first because of the child-abuse warnings, but you are my favourite Inception author so I gave it a shot. And it was SO BRILLIANT. I should have known. Arthur and Eames seemed so in-character even as children, even when they were so different from how they are as adults and criminals. I love how you seamlessly manage to weave this sweet/sad coming-of-age romance with canon and with the intensity of the Eames/Arthur relationship. It's just wonderful all the way through. I'm sure I will reread this many times.
I am seriously so flattered by this, thank you so much.
now i'm going to ramble aimlessly... I'm really glad you weren't scared away by the warnings! I didn't want to portray Arthur's problems with his father too graphically, but when I was writing the title bit, I felt like saying 'minor abuse' or something along those lines would belittle a serious issue. I definitely sometimes avoid stories based entirely on an abuse warning, and so I was having a lot of angst about that when I posted it. okay. right. i am shutting up now. thanks again for the lovely comment.
p.s. I am glad I'm still writing here, tooooo. I missed it during my sort of random unplanned hiatus.
I feel like you handled it very well! some people go way overboard with literaly/graphic descriptions, which is why i tend to avoid reading fic with themes like this, but stories like this prove that that sort of thing is not necessary in order to get the point across. :)
hah, i'm on an unplanned hiatus as well, right now. WHAT IS WRITING, IDK.
OH MY GOD. is that an image of thirteen year old arthur touching his lips after eames has given him his first kiss? HOW DID... HOW IS... I LOVE your icon and thank you for making my day :D
I want to clutch this to my chest and treasure it forever, it is so beautiful. I love the picture you painted and that good ache that came of the separation and how you pieced it back together and I love, love, love the last scene with Arthur showing off his memories and how everything just comes together so perfectly.
This is so perfect, every last scene of it, and I adore it to bits and pieces.
