What grants are like now, better I hope.
I received a CETA grant in the 70s to produce art work of the city of Norman.
It was very frustrating.
It was a committee, but they had no idea where things were to go.
Couldn't even tell me if it was to be outside or in, or how many to do? How much work was expected?
They said oh just make some stuff.
A friend who was a painter did a set of 15 Victorian Ladies, he thought that they were to be hung in waiting rooms at our hospital, but were rejected as hospital had rule that only allowed landscapes as pictures with people often disturbed family members who were waiting news of their loved one.
I don't think he ever found a place for them.
The problem became, as they were made for the city, we couldn't sell them,
I did four large outdoor abstract pieces, three could be used indoors, but only found home for one. I still have the three siting outside my home.
