Mam and Dad decided that as I was growing up and old enough to go to hotels on holiday that we wouldn't get another dog as It would mean we would have to stick to camping. I went away to college and when I got back I got a job in the library service with working hours that at the time included a twelve hour day once a week and living in a bed sit a pet wouldn't be a good idea. My habitation went up the scale as time went by but my working hours didn't change much( to 5:30 4 days a week and 9 to 7 one day a week)so a dog was not a good idea. I did think about a cat or two from time time to time but as my parents got older I went home for weekend more often I was only 12 miles away. And while dogs get used to having two homes and traveling by bus I don't think cats do and I could not contemplate leaving an animal alone in the house for two days at a time. Retirement ment I had the freedom to have a dog, my first choice, again and Saffron filled that niche. Kandi came along because Saffron missed doggy companions and Kandi

having to get cat food will force you out to the supermarket when otherwise you'll make do with what you have in the pantry. Very true for me too. There have bben occasions when I discover I should have bought their bedtime biscuits that day when I have packed them into the car and driven 5 miles to the nearest 24 hour Tesco to get them so they don't go to bed hungry. If I've run out of my musli bars I don't bother.

Very true for me too. There have bben occasions when I discover I should have bought their bedtime biscuits that day when I have packed them into the car and driven 5 miles to the nearest 24 hour Tesco to get them so they don't go to bed hungry. If I've run out of my musli bars I don't bother.
